Social Events Calendar of Activities

July 3rd – Red, White and Boom – We will meet on the top level of the Rock Island Parking ramp at about 6 P.M. Bring lawn chairs and a snack to share if you like.  It is a short walking distance to Schweibert park if you want to participate in the festivities.

July 8th – The German American Heritage Center presents an award winning magic show by magician David Casas! You will be amazed at what you see before your eyes as magic and mystery comes to the center. The show will be at 6 PM.  Come early to the German American Heritage Center, it has become a place of mystery, amusement, and magic.  Explore the man behind the illusions, Houdini! See our brand new exhibit “Houdini: The Magic and Mystery”                           Adults: $5, Seniors: $4, Children: $3 (5 – 17 years old), Free for children under 5, Members: Free, Military Personnel: Free between Memorial Day – Labor Day.   ***

Aug 19th – A Symphonic Tribute to The Beatles’ Greatest Hits,  Rock out with this symphonic tribute to The Beatles’ Greatest Hits at this summer’s Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by experiencing the entire album like never before. The second half is packed with other Beatles favorites including Here Comes the Sun, Yesterday, and Let it Be. This spectacular event closes with our traditional, rousing renditions of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever set to a brilliant fireworks display!        Gates open at 3:00 PM,  Pre-Show – Youth Symphony Orchestra at 6:30 p.m.; The Beatles Greatest Hits! at 7:30 p.m. –  Adult tickets, $20.00 in advance, children: 12 & under, $5.00. Adult prices increase $5.00 after 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 18 and at the gate. Group Discount: $16.20 orders needed by July 30th.  If you have plans to go to this event with some one else but have not yet gotten your tickets, its a great way to get discounted tickets.  We have invited Two Rivers Methodist Church to join us.

Aug 20th – Zither Ensemble Concert at the German American Heritage Center,  2:00 PM.  Enjoy the soothing sounds of our local Zither Ensemble.  The group is the largest Zither group in the Midwest.                                                      Adults: $5, Seniors: $4, Children: $3 (5 – 17 years old), Free for children under 5, Members: Free, Military Personnel: Free between Memorial Day – Labor Day. ***

Sep 17th – Join us once again for Church in the park.  The worship service will be at 10:30 at Longview park in the large pavillion with a pot luck and games to follow.  Bring table service and a dish to share, drinks will be provided.  You may bring lawn chairs if you prefer.

Oct ?- DTBA-  Shones Haunted Hayrack ride or Country Corners U-Pick Hayrack Ride – Includes Hayrack ride, U-Pick pumpkins, U-pick Indian corn, U-pick Magic popcorn, also available Pony Rides, Barnyard Zoo, Giant Jump Pad, Straw Fort, Duck Racers, Timber Nature Trail, Learning Center & Bee Barn, Live Music with DJ Dave, Zombie Paintball Wagon, Cow Train Rides, Mining for Gems, Corn Cannons, Pumpkin Blaster, 8 Acre Interactive Corn Maze with Three exciting challenges , Kids Maze-Designed with children’s games, Timber Park Picnic area and Playground, Pavilion w/ fire-bowl.  Zombie Paintball & Nightime Flashlight Maze, more info to come.  We have extended an invitation to share this event with Two Rivers Methodist Church.

Nov 6th –  Its time for another game night.  Doors open at 5:30PM, Games begin at 6:00PM.  Bring your favorite games and a snack to share.  Prepare to have lots of fun, fellowship and laughter.

Nov18th – The Harry Potter™ film series is a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. This concert will feature the entire film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™, being screened with the music removed from the print, and every note being performed live by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen, while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score. 2:00 & 8:00 PM ***


Dec ?- DTBA – Deere Administration Building tour with Dwight Anderson.  Get in the Christmas spirit while we tour the  decorated building.  We will end our tour with dinner at a restaurant tbd at a later time.  More info to come!

Dec ?- DTBA- Join us for some christmas caroling in some of our church family neighborhoods, weather permitting.  This will be a spur-of-the-moment event some Sunday after church.  We will return to church to warm up with cookies and hot chocolate.

Dec 30th – Eve of New Years Eve Party, 12:00 Noon,  We are celebrating the coming of the new year with fun and fellowship.  We will order pizza, play games and end with a toast of sparkling cider or grape juice.  Come help us ring in the new year early.

Jan ? – DTBA- Tubing at Snowstar with Two Rivers Methodist Church.  Watch for more info at a later date.

Jan 13th – Game night, Doors open at 4:30, Games start at 5:00.  Bring your favorite game and a snack to share.

Feb ? – DTBA-  International Street fest and Dinner at Augustana College.  More info to come.

DTBA (Mar-May) – Circa 21 Dinner playhouse.  The Church Basement Ladies, “Rise Up, O Men” is a brand new musical featuring the men of the church and your favorite church basement ladies who serve them. As these hard-working farmers discuss their scrap lumber piles and the benefits of solder vs weld, they unintentionally disrupt the order of the kitchen. But that’s what happens when you let roosters in the hen house! Rise Up, O Men! maintains the same light-hearted, folksy humor and witty songs, with sprinkles of sweetness, that has been the hot dish of this series Mavis, Karin, and Vivian are back in the kitchen frowning just a bit at the presence of the men. Turns out the kitchen needs a little fixing up, and there seems to be something wrong with the furnace. Pastor Gunderson is joined by Karin’s husband, Elroy Engelson, and handyman, Carl.
